Come to the meeting about our bush dance workshops!
There has been quite a lot of interest in Country and Bush Dancing, after the newspaper story about local dance caller, Pauline Cambourne. So Dungog Arts Society is holding a meeting to gauge interest in running some Bush Dance workshops, followed by an actual dance to be held in a local hall, later in the year!
The plan is to hold a series of workshops, where people can learn to do Country and Bush Dancing. These will be fun and friendly, reasonably-priced get-togethers. Once there are enough people interested in dancing, DAS will hold a dance- where everyone can put their skills into practice, socialise and meet others, not to mention have a ball.
The meeting to “get the ball rolling” will be held at 6pm on Thursday 6 February, at the Dungog Arts Society Gallery, 266 Dowling Street Dungog.
Everyone is most welcome- you do not need to be a DAS member, or even live in Dungog Shire to attend. We won’t be dancing at this first meeting- it is just intended to get an idea of numbers who are interested, plan the first workshops, set dates that suit participants, and let people ask questions and find out more information.
If you are interested in learning how to do country and bush dancing, this is your opportunity to do it locally, with a world-class dance caller as the tutor. Participants do not need any experience whatsoever in dance- this is all about having fun, meeting people and enjoying a social occasion with live music.
Music will be provided by local musicians, which means that the music can readily be stopped and started, or slowed down to allow dancers to take their own time to learn the steps. These workshops are as much about enjoying ourselves as they are about learning to dance.
There is no cost to attend this meeting.
