Lorraine Wiseman

Lorraine commenced her career as a primary school teacher with NSW Department of Education. After completing the TAFE 3 year General Dressmaking course, she moved to Home Economics teaching where she could share her love of the textile arts with her secondary school students.

After gaining her B.Ed. In Home Science/Textiles in 1978, she studied for her M.Sc., Textiles at Guelph University in Ontario, Canada, followed by a Graduate Certificate in Design and Technology at ACU, before undertaking Textile Art studies at Newcastle College of Advanced Education.

Her love of textiles was extended when she taught spinning and weaving at TAFE.

Retiring from a most enjoyable teaching career has given Lorraine the time to focus on digitising some of her daughter Lisa’s artwork to machine embroidery designs which she then uses to create functional textile bags, quilts and clothing and more.

Lorraine has work available in our online gallery-shop, an embroidered Christmas tree greeting card here.
